Spider Bite Pictures
Arachnophobia is one of the most common fears that people have. Spiders are a member of the arachnid family, and there are over 37,000 species of spider world-wide. While spider bites often freak people out, there are only a few distinct groups that are dangerous to humans. Many people will call them poisonous spiders, this term is incorrect. Poisonous spiders, named thus because the inject venom, not poison, still rarely bite humans unless they are threatened, and even if a person is bitten by a venomous spider, prompt medical attention can usually take care of any potential issues. The hard fact is that all spiders are venomous, but there are only a few species who have venom potent enough to affect a full grown person. There are a few species of venomous spiders that exhibit extremely aggressive behavior, and will attack with little provocation. The Brazilian wandering spider is one such species.
The majority of spider bites will be no more serious that the standard non-infectious mosquito bite. You may experience swelling, itching, and some pain around the area of the bite, and that is about it.
Venomous spiders who have a strong enough venom to actually harm people tend to leave more serious bite. These come with more distinct symptoms, including a headache, numbness or tingling around the bite area, shortness of breath, accelerated heart rate, chills or fever, and the potential for necrosis to set in. The spiders venom works by dissolved the tissue or whatever it bite. It is primarily a hunting trait, allow the spider to bite its prey, let the insides dissolve, then eat what liquid it can pull out.
While the majority of spider bites are nothing to be concerned about, these spider bites deal with the types of spiders that have venom potent enough to actually cause a person harm.

The black widow spider is known for both its dangerous bite and the red hourglass the adorns it's stomach. This particular species of spider is found all over the U.S., but they are more common in the southern regions. It's bite is dangerous, with the venom causing very negative effects. The venom of a black widow spider is a severely strong neurotoxin that has drastic effects on the central nervous system. Every person will react differently to the venom, with some people having only pain, cramps, and muscle twitches in the area of the bite, while others may experience chest pain, breathing issues, nausea, and vomiting. Still, the black widow spider bite is rarely fatal, only causing severe medical issues in certain cases. |
| The brown recluse spider is the other venomous spider species found predominantly in the United States. Their bite is similar to that of the black widow, with the person's reaction showing how serious the bite really is. It is very common for a person to feel nausea, develop severe itching, fever, and muscle pain following a bite the person may not have even noticed. The brown recluse spider bite can be painless, and the person may not notice it until symptoms start to develop hours later. While necrosis does happen, this is less common than people think. |

This is a spider bite that has started to develop into necrosis. Necrosis literally means the death of tissue. When this begins, large wounds may develop in the area of the bite. Pus and blood may be seen in this newly larger wound, and the edges around this area may be dark in coloration. |
| Spider bites can look much worse than they really are up close. The majority of spider bites can be set apart from the bites of other bugs by the pair of fang marks that are normally present with each bite. While all spider bite in different ways, the majority of spiders bite by either using a pair of fangs or by pinching the flesh in their mouth. |

One of the very common reactions to a spider bite and swelling. This spider bite picture shows what happens during the early stages of necrosis. The areas swells up and starts to turn a dark red. Pus may develop in the area. This is a sign that the body is attempting to fight the venom around the area of the bite. While spider venom does travel throughout the body, much of the damage is done around the area of the bite since this area has the highest concentration of the venom. |
| This is a prime example of severe necrosis from a venomous spider bite. It is usually easy to see by the black edges around the wound. If this should happen to develop from a spide bite, you should seek medical attention. Severe necrosis could require surgery to remove the infected tissue and keep it from spreading. Wounds like this from a spider bite are also prone to infection. |

This is a prime example of a poisonous spider bite a few day later. If you notice, the entire area is swelling and being set up for necrosis. You can see this because of the dark coloration around the area of the bite and the severe swelling in the area. |
| While most spiders will only bite when threatened, the Brazilian wandering spider will attack people with little provocation. This spider shows extreme aggression, and its venom can cause a severe reaction in most people. This spider has been linked to a number of deaths in the 20th century. |
